Coastal Road will be closed on Sunday for Southport Splashworld Triathlon

In order to carry out Southport Splashworld Triathlon on Sunday 12th September 2021 and to maintain safety for operatives and road users, it will be necessary to close Coastal Road between Shore Road, Ainsdale and Marine Drive roundabout at the top of the Beach access road and Marine Drive both ways between that roundabout and the Esplanade roundabout, and Esplanade between Esplanade roundabout and Morrisons access road from Espalande. 

In addition, the cycle lane on Fairway will be closed to all members of the public. The temporary closures will take place between 07.00 hours and 13.30 hours on Sunday 12th September 2021. 

The diversion route for all traffic will be via Shore Road, Station Road, Liverpool Road, Waterloo Road, Lulworth Road, Lord Street West, Lord Street, Duke Street, Leicester Street, Promenade, Fairway, Marine Drive and vice versa.

Splashworld is a pool based sprint triathlon with closed roads for the cycle route. Based at Dunes Splash World, Southport, the 400m swim takes place in the 5 lane 25m pool, the 20km cycle is flat 2 lap closed roads course and the flat 5km run is a single lap around the marine lake. It’s ideal for first timers and we also attract a host of experienced and elite racers. The atmosphere is relaxed and the course is fast, so join us for an EPIC late season sprint!

How much to enter:
The cost to enter Splash World Triathlon is £44 for a solo entry and £55 for a relay entry. You are required to be a member of the British Triathlon Federation / Triathlon England for insurance purposes. If you are not already a member, you can buy a ‘day license’ for an additional £5 at the time on entry. Entries will close either at 12 noon on the Friday prior to the event or when the event fills, whichever occurs first.

Please note – the above swim times only include people who entered before 2pm on Mon 6th Sept. All late entries between now and closing will be added to the list when entries close on Friday at 12noon.
Please make sure you are on pool side in good time for your “briefing” time and not your “swim start” time.
