Anthony James Estate Agents
in Southport is inviting NHS workers and care home staff who have been such heroes during the Covid-19 pandemic to a free night out at this year’s Southport Comedy Festival

Owners Mark and Lyn Cunningham are staging a very special Comedy Bingo evening in a big marquee at Victoria Park in Southport on Tuesday, 12th October.

Tickets will be available from 10am this Friday (3rd September) and will be available through the Southport Comedy Festival website: southportcomedyfestival.com

Comedy Bingo in association with Anthony James Estate Agents present this highly interactive show exclusively for NHS workers and care home staff hosted by comedian and Southport Comedy Festival Director Brendan Riley.

Be prepared for a night of laughs, prizes and excitement.

Local companies are being invited to donate prizes to make the evening truly special.

There will be limited capacity, so tickets must be booked in advance.

Anthony James Estate Agents Director Mark Cunningham said: “This is our way of saying a massive ‘thank you’ to our NHS heroes, care home staff and other heroes of the Covid pandemic over these last 18 months. Shop workers, pharmacy staff, delivery drivers, so many people gave so much to keep us all going through these challenging times.

“We will be so pleased for them to come down and have a great night out on us.

“We have some great prizes to give away on the night but we are looking for more companies out there who would like to donate anything.

“Brendan Riley’s Comedy Bingo nights are always great fun!

“I am really looking forward to the Southport Comedy Festival this year, in their big marquee at Victoria Park.

“I went to Chester Comedy Festival a few weeks ago, which they also organise, and enjoyed a great gig in a marquee. There was a great vibe there, and it will be great fun in the big marquee in Southport.”

This year every Southport Comedy Festival show will take place in a luxury marquee at Victoria Park in Southport between 1st October and 17th October 2021, complete with a Festival Beer Garden – and the strongest line-up ever.

This year’s top class acts include: Jason Byrne, Reginald D Hunter, Jo Caulfield, Tom Stade, Ed Byrne, Mark Thomas, Paul Sinha, Tez Ilyas, Luisa Omielan, Hal Cruttenden, Geoff Norcott, Steve Royle, Helen Bauer, Troy Hawke, Katie Tracey, and David Eagle. Tickets are now on sale.

Southport Comedy Festival Director Brendan Riley said: “This very special evening is all about eyes down and thumbs up for our NHS staff and our other heroes of the Covid pandemic.

“Tickets for the evening will be available through the Southport Comedy Festival in the run-up to the Festival.

“The evening has been made possible by Anthony James Estate Agents in Southport. Mark Cunningham, a Director of the company, has a brother who works in the care industry, so he knows first hand what they have all been through these past 18 months.

“We tried to stage this event at last year’s Festival, but it unfortunately had to be cancelled due to rising Covid numbers at the time.

Anthony James Estate Agents Directors Mark and Lyn Cunningham were really determined that we staged this again at this year’s event, to give something back and allow people who have worked through the pandemic to go out and have a bit of fun.

“We will have some great prizes to give away on a great free night for people, but are always keen to give away more. We would love local businesses to get in touch.”

Brendan Riley is looking forward to this year’s Southport Comedy Festival.

He said: “This is the strongest Southport Comedy Festival line-up we have ever had!

“Guests can enjoy 16 shows across 17 days between 1st October and 17th October – every night is a headline act.

“Please come out and enjoy some superb live comedy.”

NHS or care home staff attending will each be allowed to bring along one guest each, with ID required for those applying for tickets.
