First signs of Autumn as Pink Footed Geese arrive along the Southport coastline

The first Pink Footed Geese are arriving for the winter along the Southport Coast now.

These marvellous birds breed mainly in Iceland and spend the winter with us, roosting out on the shoreline at key sites and generally commuting inland each day to feed.

Listen out for their evocative calls overhead and look for the distinctive "V" formation skeins in the autumn sky.

If you haven't heard any yet, you will soon as thousands will hopefully be arriving over the coming weeks.

Respect, protect and enjoy the Coast.
