Flood Risk Management Strategy Consultation For Southport And Sefton Residents

The Flood and Water Management Act (FWMA) 2010 established Sefton Council as a Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) making it responsible for the management of local flood risk. Under Section 9 of the FWMA, a LLFA has a duty to develop, maintain, apply and monitor a Local Flood Risk Management Strategy and it must consult with the public on its plans.

We would like your views on Sefton’s Local Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Strategy and accompanying Business Plan to ensure the document:

  • Provides an appropriate context in relation to flood and erosion risk across Sefton
  • Outlines a clear purpose
  • Clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of those involved in flood and erosion risk management
  • Defines the actions that will be undertaken by Sefton Council and other key stakeholders in the management of flood and coastal erosion risk
