King Street ram raid on Southport jewellers update

Detectives are appealing for information following a ram raid in Southport in the early hours of this morning, Monday 11 April.

At around 1.30am, officers were called to reports that three males were breaking into John Bell Jewellers on Kings Street and items were stolen.

It was reported that the suspects drove off in a white Seat car towards Portland Street.

An investigation is now underway, and officers remain at the location today to continue with enquiries.

Detective Inspector Paul Gillies said: "Thankfully no one was hurt while the offenders rammed the front of the shop and carried out the burglary.

"At this early stage of the investigation we are looking for any information on the movement of the white Seat before and after this incident, as well as any suspicious activity in the area.

"If you were passing on foot or in a vehicle, and have any images, video or dashcam footage, get in touch as any small piece of evidence could be crucial to identifying those responsible and putting them before the courts.

"Likewise, if any individuals or businesses who are offered to buy any jewellery since the incident and have any suspicions where it came from then do the right thing and get in contact."
