Lifeboat crew rescue despondant male in the sea off Weld Road Southport

The volunteers were paged on Sunday morning to reports of a despondent male in the water off Southport Beach.

Southport Rescue Arctic lifeboat proceeded to the launch site at Southport while the ATV quad bikes made way to the reported location of the casualty off Weld Road.  The male was located in some standing water on Southport Beach, and was escorted off the beach with the help of Southport Coastguard and Merseyside Police to the waiting ambulance.

As the casualty was no longer in immediate danger units were stood down and returned to station.
