More disruption for passengers travelling to and from Southport on Northern Rail this morning

All lines have now reopened following an earlier broken down train between Wigan Wallgate and Southport.

Trains between Wigan Wallgate and Southport may still be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until approximately 11:00.

Alternative travel advice:​​​​​​​

The first service that will run from Wigan Wallgate towards Southport with depart Wigan Wallgate at 09:31.

The first service that will run from Southport towards Wigan Wallgate will be the 10:36 Southport to Stalybridge service.

The following road replacement transport will remain in place:

• 09:20 Southport to Wigan Wallgate, operated by S Line
• 09:40 Southport to Wigan Wallgate, operated by Bestway
• 09:15, 09:45 Wigan Wallgate to Southport, Operated by Bestway

 

Journey times may be extended by up to 30 minutes when using road transport.

Once at Wigan Wallgate, passengers can connect to train services towards Alderley Edge and Stalybridge.
