Passenger attacked with railway ballast at Seaforth & Litherland on the Southport to Liverpool line

Officers investigating an incident in which a man spat at a woman and attacked another man with a piece of ballast from the tracks at Seaforth & Litherland railway station are today releasing this CCTV image in connection.

Just before midnight on Monday 2 August, a man and a woman were involved in an altercation on the platform. The man spat in her face and another passenger on the platform tried to intervene.

The man walked off the edge of the platform and grabbed a piece of railway ballast from the track. He got back onto the platform and began to fight the passenger, striking him several times on the head with the rock. The man then left the station.

The victim suffered a large cut to the head and bruising.

Officers believe the man in the CCTV image may have information which could help their investigation.
