Police recover a significant amount of stolen bikes

Officers from the Local Policing Team at Southport Police Station have this week recovered a significant number of stolen bikes. This comes as part of ongoing investigations into a series of shed/garage burglaries in Southport over recent weeks.

Several of these bikes have been matched up to crimes and we have begun the process of contacting the victims to arrange for them to prove ownership and have the bikes returned to them.

The following bikes are currently outstanding and we would like to try and trace the owners of these bikes:

CANNONDALE 275

GT Transio

GIANT Escape

BOARDMAN Sport

CARRERA Hellcat

VOODOO Agwa

If you have lost one of these bikes recently, please contact us at this e mail address:

[email protected]

Please provide the following information:

1) CRIME NUMBER

2) PHOTOGRAPH OF THE BIKE IN YOUR POSESSION (Internet catalogue photos are not sufficient to prove ownership)

3) DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF YOUR BIKE. COLOUR, FRAME NUMBER IF YOU HAVE IT AND ANY SPECIFIC DETAILED   FEATURES THAT WILL HELP IDENTIFICATION.

Please be advised that thieves will often take items off and swap items round to make identification more difficult. So the more specific you can be, the better.

Please do not contact us about bikes not on the above list. We know there are still more bikes outstanding.

No arrests have been made at this time however, investigations continue. We are acting on information received and we are hopeful of more progress to announce shortly.

Bike owners are advised to use ONLY steel 'D' locks or heavy chains that will not be able to be cut through using bolt cutters. Use these locks EVERY TIME you leave your bike anywhere, even at home in your shed/garage, and add a shed alarm to your shed/garage.
