Port of Liverpool workers get COVID-19 jabs
NHS South Sefton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Sefton Public Health Team were invited by Peel Ports to the Port of Liverpool to vaccinate those working there who had not yet been able to get their vaccinations elsewhere.
The vaccinations were provided by an NHS team led by Seaforth and Litherland Primary Care Network (PCN), a group of GP practices working together to provide local services and supported by NHS South Sefton CCG and Sefton Council’s Public Health Team.
Dr Sandra Oelbaum, clinical director Seaforth and Litherland PCN said: “Our team are proud of the role they played in ensuring that workers at the Port of Liverpool were given access to a vaccine, whoever their employer was and ensuring that those working in this gateway to the city and important world-wide trade link are kept safe.”
Margaret Jones, director of public health for Sefton, said: “Vaccinations reduce the risk of catching and spreading Covid-19, you’re also far less likely to be seriously ill from Covid if you’ve been vaccinated. That is why it’s so important that we make it as easy as possible, for as many people as possible to get vaccinated right across Sefton. So, I’d like to thank Peel Ports and our colleagues at the CCG and Seaforth and Litherland PCN for facilitating this programme at the Port of Liverpool, helping to protect people in Sefton and beyond.”
The clinic was huge success with 102 vaccines given over just three days and more vaccination clinics are planned at the port for week commencing 16 August.

As of 5 August, a total of 203,549 doses have been administered by the NHS to people living in south Sefton. This consists of 110,202 first doses and 93,347 second doses.
