Preston New Road Southport accident update

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to Preston New Road, junction with North Road, Southport on Tuesday 21st September following reports of a road traffic collision.

Crews were called shortly after 7.30am and two fire engines were sent to the scene as well as the search and rescue appliance.

On arrival crews found two vehicles had been involved in a collision. One of the vehicles was on its side, with one person still inside. The other vehicle involved was on all four wheels, and the driver along with two passengers self-extricated from the vehicle when crews arrived.

Crews removed the roof of the vehicle to allow for maximum access. The person was then removed and handed into the care of North West Ambulance Service to be assessed by paramedics before being conveyed to Southport District Hospital for further assessment.

Fire crews left the scene at 8.18am.

Merseyside Police were also in attendance to assist with road closures.
