A man wanted as part of Operation Hunter has been arrested and charged.

Simon Long, 41, from Southport was wanted in connection with a report of an assault in Bamber Bridge in September.

He was located and arrested last week on suspicion of assault, making threats to kill and criminal damage.

Following consultation with the CPS Long was subsequently charged with criminal damage and remanded in custody.

Launched in July, Operation Hunter sees task force officers from across the Force as well as specialist units including Tactical Operations and the ANPR intercept teams target individuals wanted for a range of offences including domestic abuse, sexual offences and general criminality.
