Southport man charged with running a brothel in Newport wales

Two people have been charged after suspected 'pop-up' brothels were shut down.

Tarian, the organised crime unit in South Wales, say the brothels in the Newport area were closed as part of a ''detailed investigation''.

Detectives arrested a man and a woman at two addresses in the North West of England on Wednesday morning.

Xiuyan Wang (43) from Morecambe and Stephen Norton (51) from Southport were later charged with running a brothel.

They have since been granted bail by magistrates in Blackpool until a later date.

Detective Chief Inspector Steven Maloney said: ''Tarian and Gwent Police have worked together to identify and close a number of suspected 'pop-up' brothels in the Newport area.''
