Southport MP working hard to get services returned to the Hospital

Southport MP Damien Moore commented...

I have been speaking regularly since the start of the Covid-pandemic with Southport Hospital regarding the return of its Clatterbridge Hub and Medical Day Unit service.

I have fought hard to get the service returned in our local hospital at the earliest opportunity, as I know how valued this service is, and how missed it has been since the decision was taken early in the Covid-pandemic to move chemotherapy administration to Aintree Hospital.

Yesterday afternoon, I heard from Anne-Marie Stretch, Southport Hospital’s Managing Director, that following a recent risk assessment, it is still not possible to reinstate the Medical Day Unit service.

I will continue working with Southport Hospital to get this service back as soon as is safely possible, just as I am also working hard on getting the children’s A&E restored to our town, in order to ensure that Southport patients can access high quality care in the place where they live.
