Southport FC and Big Help Project seal a strategic long-term partnership in sports and community development

We are delighted to confirm that Big Help and Southport Football Club have reached a landmark agreement to become strategic partners from the beginning of the 2023/24 season. This agreement will see Big Help become the official stadium sponsors from the beginning of next season and will see Big Help Group invest £100,000 in infrastructural support into the Club and its charitable community foundation to support long term success on and off the pitch.

Big Help Project is a leading Charitable Organisation, founded in Merseyside and operating across England and Wales. Big Help’s extensive range of service delivery includes feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, providing access to wellbeing services to those in need of mental health support and through FCA and CMA accredited Money Advice teams the offer of free, confidential Debt, Welfare, Budgeting and Employability support to empower people to break free from the vicious cycle of poverty. As a strategic partner, Big Help Project will be working closely with the club and foundation to provide resources and support to help them achieve their goals of engaging with local people to support community development through sport and education.

As stadium sponsor, the Haig Avenue stadium will be renamed The Big Help Stadium and this will be the first step in Big Help Project developing a greater presence in Southport. Big Help Project look forward to engaging with the fanbase and wider community throughout the course of the summer and into next season to understand how Big Help can support the club and the community foundation’s wider ambitions.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Southport FC and its Community Foundation,” said Peter Mitchell, CEO of the Big Help Project. “We believe that sport has the power to make a real difference in people’s lives, and we are excited to be part of the work that the club and foundation are doing in the local community.”

“We are delighted to have the Big Help Project on board as our Stadium Sponsor and Strategic Partner,” said Liam Watson, Southport FC Manager. “Their commitment to helping people in the local area is truly inspiring, and we are excited to be working with them to achieve our shared goals.”

The partnership between the Big Help Project and Southport FC is a testament to the power of sport to bring people together and create positive change in communities. Big Help Project’s involvement will undoubtedly bring new opportunities for Southport FC and its Community Foundation to further develop their initiatives and expand their reach.
