A 55-year-old man from Burscough arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs

Police want to tell you about two stops they made in Preston and Ormskirk yesterday (Wednesday) which led to the seizure of a large quantity of drugs.


At 10.30am a VW T-Roc car was stopped on Rose Lane in the Holme Slack area of Preston due to the manner it was being driven.


The driver was spoken to, and a rucksack was seen on the back seat. The rucksack was searched, and bags of cannabis valued at approximately £14,000 were found.


A roadside drugs swipe was carried out on the driver which proved positive for cannabis.


The driver, a 26-year-old man from Penwortham, was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply and driving with excess drugs. He has since been released on the bail.


The brand-new VW car he was driving, which belonged to his mum, has been retained by police.
The second stop was at 2.30pm on County Road, Ormskirk.


A vehicle was stopped, and the driver admitted to having drugs - wraps of what is believed to be cocaine, were found secreted in the car.


A 55-year-old man from Burscough was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and taken into custody.


He has since been released under investigation.
