AFC Telford 1 Southport 1
Deadlock at Telford with the points shared in a 1-1 draw.
Southport had plenty of possession but very little to show in front of goal.
It was no surprise when the home side took the lead on 39 minutes when a cross somehow managed to find its’ way over Tony McMillan’s head and into the goal. A bit of a fluke but no more than Telford deserved.
The hosts went close to increasing their lead after 20 seconds but a brilliant block by Chris Doyle thwarted the attempt.
Southport equalised in the 51st minute when a deep cross found Connor Woods at the far post and he fired home from close range.
It was Tony McMillan who kept the visitors in the game with a string of fine saves that kept the scores level.
Southport did come close to grabbing the winner in the 90th minute but Watson fired well over when well placed.
There was a very late scare for the visitors with a scramble in the box fell to a home player who looked sure to score but it was cleared away.
A disappointing result but the run of three defeats ends and we move on to another away day on Tuesday and a trip to Darlington.
