Ainsdale Community Police Monitor Speed and Parking at Local Primary School

trev

Ainsdale Neighbourhood Constable 5018 and PCSO 0272 were at St. John's Primary school in Ainsdale this morning. This partnership work was in response to requests from the school for a police presence around school drop off times to monitor for dangerous parking and the speed of vehicles in the 20mph limit outside the school.

For the keen eyed, the device used to monitor the speeds is not a Department Of Transport approved speeding device, so it is not used in the issue of speeding offence tickets. The device is used to monitor speeds so that, should a number of speeding vehicles be detected in an area, then a specific Roads Policing Spotlight operation can be put in place, where a calibrated speed detection device is used and enforcement will be applied.

Following this, the officers went back into school and met all of the children in the year groups for a Q&A session with their School Community Champions.
