Ainsdale on Sea Boasts Enhanced Facilities and New External Shower

Improved facilities
Sefton Council is reminding people planning a visit to its coast about the improved toilet block and facilities opened just last year at Ainsdale on Sea.
As well as men’s and women’s toilets, the block provides baby change facilities, a new external shower, and it has a drinking water station, funded by marine conservation charity Sea-Changers.
Defibrillator fitted
Also, thanks to funding from the Ainsdale Civic Society, there is a defibrillator on the exterior of the building.
Preserved original features
During the refurbishment of the heritage block many of its original features, including tiles and sinks were preserved in their original form. The building’s new roof includes bat-accessible tiles to provide important sheltering space for some of the special and protected species that live in this area.
Accessible to visitors
As part of its commitment to making Ainsdale is accessible to as many visitors as possible, last year the Council also opened a new, fully accessible Changing Places toilet. This was in addition to refurbishing the original disabled toilet.
Specialist facilities and equipment
Changing Places toilets are larger, specialist facilities and come with equipment such as hoists, adult-sized changing benches, and space for carers.
Opened other new Changing Places toilets
Last year, Sefton Council also opened new Changing Places toilets at Litherland Sports Centre, and Dunes Splash World. These were in addition to the Borough’s seven existing Changing Places units in Southport, Bootle, Crosby, and Formby.
The toilets are open daily in the summer months, from 10am to 6pm, and people are asked to use the facilities respectfully. Cleaning and replacement of consumables will be undertaken twice per day.
Car parking available
On-beach car parking is available, tide and sand permitting, at Ainsdale from 10am to 6pm daily until the end of September. Spaces can fill up quickly on busy days and people are advised to plan their journey ahead and have alternative parking options or travel arrangements if needed.
Transport services
Sefton Council beaches are well-served by the Merseyrail northern line, with Southport, Ainsdale, and Waterloo stations being a short walk from the beach. Bus services also provide easy access. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport, cycling, or walking to help reduce the carbon footprint.
People can plan your journey using the Merseyrail journey planner or the Merseyrail website atwww.merseyrail.org.
