Another Southport attraction left to decay in 2023

Enjoyed by countless thousands over the years the Pitch and Putt on Princes Park is now an overgrown wilderness. Before the Ocean Plaza was built it was an 18-hole course that was well maintained. After the construction of the Ocean Plaza, it was reduced in size to 9-hole course but was still popular.

It fell into decline as the Council put the running of the course out to tender. Norman Wallis from Pleasureland had the contract and the course was turned into a Foot Golf after the Covid crisis.

The payment kiosk which is now boarded up is becoming an eyesore. The fence has also been vandalised

The FootGolf has some good reviews on Tripadvisor some as late as September last year.

I am fairly sure we went on this course when it was previously a pitch and putt. It is quite a tricky course with some long holes and it is fairly undulating. It wasn't busy which was a bonus for us but I hope it does well. The staff member was lovely and friendly and helpful

Loved it! Great way to pass the time during our visit to Southport.
And at only £6pp with the option of completing the course twice, what a bargain!! 9 holes in total per lap. Was a good giggle. We're big fans of crazy golf as a family fun activity so was nice to try this and glad we did. Would definitely recommend it, even in sandals I gave it a good go.

Now the course has been left to fall into a sad state of disrepair rather like the Pier in the Background.

If nobody takes up the tender to run the attraction then it is up to the Council who own the land to look after it. This clearly is not the case and another iconic Southport attraction looks doomed.
