Southport’s first ever league win against Peterborough Sports at the eighth attempt.

It wasn’t pretty and it was a very scrappy game but three vital points on the road.

The goal came after just 95 seconds and was a fine curling effort from the edge of the area from Arthur Gnahoua that sealed the points.

After that it all got very scrappy with neither side able to create many clear cut openings.

Luke Griiffiths fired over the bar midway through the first half and Chris Sze had a great chance at the start of the second period.

It took a superb, brave save from Chris Renshaw in added time to preserve the three points and ensure a good contingent of travelling fans went home happy.

The attendance of 566 was the home sides best of the season.
