Body of a man found in Hesketh Park in Southport

A statement from Merseyside police.

Merseyside Police can confirm emergency services are at Hesketh Park in Southport this morning Friday October 11.

Just before 5.30am we received a report that a body of a man in his 50s was found in the park and was sadly pronounced deceased.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

We believe the man is Latvian and we are in the process of tracing his next-of-kin.

A scene is currently in place while officers remain in the area.
