Boost for Young Golf Enthusiasts as Sefton Council Offers Free Memberships
Once again this summer, Sefton Council is offering free junior golf memberships to under-16s.
Free membership, worth £80, entitles young people to a year’s no-cost play at its Bootle and Southport courses for the next 12 months.
Signing up for the free membership is simple. Under-16s just need to register at the Bootle Golf Club or Southport Golf Links shops, although they do need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must provide proof of age.
Cllr Ian Moncur, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said:
“The recent staging of the Open at Royal Liverpool and it return to Sefton’s own Royal Birkdale in 2026 are likely to have inspired some of our young people to want to take up golf or improve their game and these free memberships are a great opportunity to do that.
“Worth £80, the access these memberships provide to free golf at our Bootle and Southport courses, might just result in the discovery of the next Tommy Fleetwood.”
Details of Sefton Council’s Bootle and Southport course and information about Bootle Driving Range, which is open from 8am to 9pm Sunday to Friday and from 8am to 7pm on Saturdays, can be found at www.sefton.gov.uk/golf.
