Car "Frost Jacked" in Southport this morning

frost

'Frost-jacking' is the term given to cars stolen, while the owner is in the process of de-icing the car, and has left the car with the engine running. Passing thieves then take the opportunity to jump in and drive off!
Previously, car owners have lost their lives trying to stop thieves from stealing cars in this way and this morning, the first one of these type of thefts this winter took place in Southport. The car has been recovered after the thieves crashed it nearby.

The home owner was not injured in this incident.
NEVER LEAVE CAR ENGINES RUNNING AND CARS UNATTENDED WHEN DE-ICING.
Make sure you have de-icer and a scraper the night before a frost, or use the warm water in a bag trick and defrost your car BEFORE starting the engine and getting into your car. Give yourself the extra time in the morning and avoid the risk of having your car 'frost-jacked'.
