Council aiming to have Marine Drive Southport open today
After almost five weeks Sefton Council is hoping to reopen the Marine Drive later today. The busy road has been closed as repairs were carried out to the Pier after a lorry crashed into it.
Sefton Council and its contractors are working towards reopening the road this Friday (October 8th) following completion and safety sign off of all works.
Some of the work needed to be carried out this week involved a repair to a damaged sewer pipe, electrical wiring to be checked by Scottish Power and finally the deck boards will be replaced before it’s reopened.
“A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “The safety of our pedestrians and road users is paramount and we apologise for any delays these unavoidable works may have caused.”
