Detectives from our dedicated County Lines team are welcoming the sentencing of a Kirkby man to five years and seven months in prison following an investigation which began last year.

Mark Evans, 37, of St Kevin’s Drive, was jailed at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday, Monday 17 March.

On Thursday 21 November, Evans was arrested by officers from Project Medusa following a stop search in Eastbank Street, Southport. He was found to be in possession of 65 wraps of crack cocaine and 39 wraps of heroin (including the below):

Evans was charged with Possession with intent to supply Crack cocaine and heroin; and was this week sentenced.

Project Medusa is the Merseyside-led initiative to tackle County Lines drug dealing and child criminal exploitation across the country.

Detective Sergeant Ged Farley from Project Medusa said: “Evans is beginning a significant prison sentence, during which he can reflect on the serious harm caused by his drug supply.

“Information from those communities who feel the impact of serious and organised crime is vital in dismantling these groups, before they bring further risk to the streets, including violent crime. Report your concerns directly or anonymously, and we will keep taking action.”
