Cyclist taken to hospital after smash in Southport Town Centre yesterday

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said "We were contacted at just before 10.45am yesterday (Sunday) to reports of a road traffic collision between a cyclist and a taxi at the junction of Stanley Street and Gordon Street in Southport.

"The male cyclist, who is in his 20s, was taken to hospital with a head injury.

"The driver of the taxi, a Kia Ceed, stopped at the scene.
