Damien Moore thanks the people of Southport who voted for him

I want to say a big thank you to all of the thousands of people who voted for me yesterday.
It was a very difficult night for the Conservative Party, and we will need to re-build to earn back the trust of those who switched their vote to other parties this time around.

In the early hours of this morning, as the results were declared, I offered my congratulations to Patrick on his election. I also want to congratulate all the other candidates for putting themselves forward and running the campaigns they did.

To my team in my office - past and present - thank you for all your work over the years in support of Southport residents. We’ve helped thousands of people, and I’m really proud of everything you’ve all done.
To the dedicated volunteers and activists at Southport Conservative Association, thank you for all of your support over the 4 elections we have fought together.
It’s been the honour of my life to serve as Southport’s MP - thank you for entrusting me over the past 7 years.
