Despite severe erosion on the beach National Trust at Formby near Southport open again
Following initial storm safety checks we’re pleased to confirm that Victoria Road car park and all toilets are now open.
The team have been busy assessing storm damage across the site. Fortunately, last week’s storms appear to have been kinder to the woodlands. We’ll continue to carry out tree safety work so please do look out for signs.
We’ve also re-graded the Victoria Road walk over to smooth out and create better access to the beach.
Here’s some useful information if you’re planning a visit;
Stick to open spaces and away from woodland areas as some trees may be unstable with loose branches
Keep a safe distance from the natural dune cliffs that have formed – calmer winds and tides will help these shift and return to their rolling shape
Take care as you walk on to the beach at Victoria Road as more old construction rubble has been exposed.
Be mindful of sand that has piled up on the Lifeboat Road boardwalk we’ll remove this as soon as possible
Check tide times before you visit there are some 8 to 9 metre tides in the middle of the afternoon for most of this week
