Dispersal zones introduced in Southport and Birkdale

There is a dispersal zone in place in Southport town centre and seafront today, Saturday 30th October 2021 starting at 15:00 hours and lasting until 15:00 on Monday hrs. Within this area, police officers or PCSO's have the power (under certain circumstances) to:

• Require anyone to leave the area and prevent them from returning for up to 48 hours.

• Require a person to surrender items that can be used to cause anti-social behaviour.

• Send under 16s home or to a place of safety.

• Arrest anyone who ignores the instruction.

The area of the dispersal zone is outlined by Lulworth Road, Aughton Road, Upper Aughton Road, Eastbourne Road, Crescent Road, Grosvenor Road. Waterloo Road (see map)
