Don’t look back in anger, check your train: rail travel advice for Oasis gig-goers

Fans travelling by train to the Mancunian band’s homecoming concerts are advised to carefully plan their journeys.

On 11, 12, 16, 19 and 20 July 2025, Oasis are set to return to the city to perform a series of sell-out concerts at Heaton Park.

The concerts are the first time the brothers, originally from Burnage in Manchester, have performed together since 2009.

With the large crowds expected, Network Rail is reiterating its three top travel tips for the concert dates:

  • Plan your journey in advance by checking www.nationalrail.co.uk

  • Allow extra time to travel - a queueing system will be in place during busy times

  • Travel light– keep luggage and bags to a minimum as trains will be very busy

It is unknown how many of the 300,000 ticket holders may travel by rail into the city to attend the shows, however, Manchester Piccadilly saw over 307,000 journeys during this year’s Parklife weekend at the same venue.

Margaret Edge, Manchester Piccadilly’s station deliver manager said: “The Oasis concerts at Heaton Park are going to be electric, and we have good plans in place to make people’s journeys through Manchester Piccadilly as smooth as possible.

“Don’t look back in anger, plan your journeys carefully. Allow extra time for your journey and do not rely on the last trains as we’re expecting them to be extremely busy.”

A queuing system will be in place across the station. Passengers are being asked to roll with it and treat staff with respect as they head to the show.

For onward journeys from Victoria, Metrolink trams will run direct to Heaton Park every six minutes, with services running later than normal for return journeys.

With no trams operating between Piccadilly station and Piccadilly Gardens due to track upgrades, passengers arriving at Piccadilly can use the signposted walking route to Victoria (approx. 20 mins), the Free Bus or can hop on a tram to Victoria from Market Street. Further details can be foundon the Bee Network website. Shuttle buses will also run direct to Heaton Park from Lever Street and back into the city after the concert. Full details can be found here.

Steve Gilholme, Head of Events at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said: “Travel arrangements for these huge Oasis comeback gigs have taken months of planning and we’re putting on extra trams and a dedicated shuttle bus service to get people safely to and from Heaton Park.

“Concertgoers should allow themselves plenty of time to get to the venue, plan ahead and remember to check the Bee Network app and website for the latest travel updates.”
