Drunk woman rescued from Crosby beach

Crosby Coastguard Rescue Team responded to reports of an intoxicated female stuck in the mud on Crosby Beach.
The team deployed their specialist 4x4 vehicle, picked up a paramedic, and began a search along the beach.
The female was found unconscious face down in the mud. Coastguard Rescue Officers, together with the paramedic, carried out an immediate mud rescue.
She was placed on a rescue sled and administered oxygen.
Due to the casualty’s condition, Coastguard, Fire, and Police Officers on scene carried the stretcher approximately 800 metres across the sand to a waiting ambulance. She was then taken to hospital.
This casualty was very lucky that her friends called 999 and asked for the Coastguard. Mud can be extremely dangerous — especially when combined with alcohol or drugs.
We were fortunate to have the support of Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service , Merseyside Police , and North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust for a difficult stretcher carry across the sand. It was a fantastic multi-agency effort.
We wish the casualty a full and speedy recovery.
