Early morning crash outside Wetherspoons in Southport

A BMW and a Toyota collided on the corner of Lord Street and Coronation Walk at approximately 5.10 this morning (22nd May) close to Wetherspoons. The police were on the scene very quickly and one of the occupants of the BMW tried to punch one of the officers. He was thrown into the back of a police van.

The other occupant of the BMW tried to calm his mate down but eventually walked away shouting abuse in a thick scouse accent.

It is not known if anyone was injured in the accident which was only minor.
