Lancashire fire service asks residents to stop outdoor burning during dry weather
Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service is asking residents to stop all controlled burning in the open while warm, dry weather continues.
The request follows a UK Government emergency alert sent on Friday, 14 August, warning of a very high risk of wildfires across the country.
People are being asked not to light garden-waste fires, bonfires, fire pits, braziers or other open fires. The service says conditions remain extremely dry, so even a small fire can spread quickly and become difficult to control.
Fire crews have also been advised to put out open fires they find as part of the current guidance.
Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service already advises people to avoid open fires and barbecues in open countryside, woodland and on beaches during warm, dry weather.
