Southport progress to Round Three after another fine win on the road at Buxton.

A dominant first half performance brought two goals. Malakai McKenzie opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a superb curling shot from the edge of the box that the home ‘keeper stood no chance of reaching.

A 37th minute penalty came the visitors way after Danny lloyd was fouled in the box. Lloyd took the pen but it was saved by the ‘keeper but he was on hand to slam home the rebound.

2-0 aft half time and in complete control .

It all changed after 50 minutes when the home side came more into the game and got a deserved goal back through Sodje in the 54th minute amnd the comeback was complete on 61 minutes when Sodje got his second of the game after a period of sustained pressure.

This Southport side has shown great fighting spirit in these last few weeks and rather than let the comeback affect them they bounced back in the 65th minute.

Adrien Thibaut played an outstanding ball out wide to Jordan Slew who was through on goal but was pushed over when about to shoot and a red card and penalty was awarded which this time saw Lloyd smash past the ‘keeper.

Despite being down to ten men Buxton continued to press but were unable to grab an equaliser and it was Southport that went home in the hat for the next round.

Another good contingent of travelling fans went home happy and eagerly await the draw for the next round.
