Fire in the bushes on Fairways in Southport

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to Fairways in Southport this morning at approximately 9.55 following reports of a fire in the bushes and trees close to the old Sandpipers building at the end of the Marine Lake.

One fire crew attended and soon extinguished the blaze. The cause of the fire is not known. Several people live in tents in the area and in the trees near by.

They are not thought to have been injured.
