Fire service statement after Compton Road caravan fire today

Merseyside Fire And Rescue Service were called to Compton Road in Southport at approximately 9.25 this morning following reports of a caravan on fire.There are several caravans at the rear of a property that people live in.

The blaze was soon extinguished. According to a witness who lives in a nearby caravan the fire started after the occupant of the caravan was using candles for heating as they have no electricity.

Paramedics were treating one person at the scene. 

MFRS Statement.

We currently have two fire engines in attendance at this incident. Crews were called shortly before 9.30am and on scene soon after.

On arrival crews found a static caravan involved in the fire. All persons were out of the caravan prior to MFRS arriving.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two high pressure hose reel jets to tackle the fire.
