FIRST Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action aims to celebrate and showcase what we do!

This week, we are supporting the NPCC Neighbourhood Policing (NP) Week of Action which aims to recognise and celebrate the vital work that all our NP officers, PCSOs and other volunteers perform on a daily basis.

“This is the first time a week of action celebrating Neighbourhood Policing has taken place and we are excited to share with the community exactly what our officers do across Merseyside and how it all pieces together to keep you safe.” Said Head of Local Policing, Chief Superintendent Zoe Thornton.

Officers and staff that make up our NP teams are exceptionally skilled in supporting the public and have to be prepared to deal with a wide range of incidents on a day-to-day basis. Some are paid workers and some are volunteers who give their own personal time up to make a difference to the communities that we serve and form a integral part of the team.

Chief Superintendent Thornton continued: “Our Community, Prevention and Targeted teams have got a lot of activity planned this week that we will aim to share on our social media channels but in case we can’t get to it all, expect to see walk-abouts with our partners, partnership visits to local places of worship, high vis patrols, roadside operations, warrants, open land searches, community engagement opportunities and much more.”

As a result, this week of action will aim to showcase to the public what we do and in return, we will also be putting an emphasis on the NP teams wellbeing through the deployment of wellbeing vans and wellbeing dogs, health webinars, videos, podcasts and other sessions to improve resilience and help keep officers and staff healthy and well.

Chief Superintendent Thornton concluded: “We recognise that working for the police, no matter what your role, can be physically and mentally draining – but it’s also one of the most rewarding jobs anyone can do and therefore celebrating the various teams that make up the Force is just one way of showcasing both internally and externally just how much we appreciate the hard work that is carried out every single day.”
