"It’s never a day at work if you love your job. There are no two days the same. This job is that diverse that there are probably 20 or 30 different roles in one.”

Those are the words of Sefton Council's Joe Kennedy, who spent a day with the Liverpool Echo last week as they followed him for a 'Day In The Life' feature.

Joe is the Lead Ranger for the Council's Green Sefton service in the south of the Borough, leading a small team and working with the many volunteers who help out everywhere from Maghull to Waterloo.

After starting as a volunteer himself, Joe has been part of the team for 13 years, working his way up to the Lead Ranger role.

In the article, you can learn about his day job - which can go from battling invasive plant species to cleaning up the coast or educating the public about Sefton's special habitat, all in the blink of an eye.

There's plenty of praise for the whole ranger team, as well as the many volunteer groups - Rimrose Valley Friends and Friends of Crosby Beach to name just two - who provide invaluable support.

You can also read more about the different challenges that Joe and his team overcome on a daily basis.
