Future Proposals for Southport Liveable Neighbourhood Scheme Await Consultation
“In 2021, Sefton Council with Sustrans (now Walk Wheel Cycle Trust) worked to develop proposals by the community to propose a scheme known as the Southport Liveable Neighbourhood scheme.
“The scheme aimed to reduce traffic and increase active travel in Southport. Elements of the scheme are still being considered, looking at some of the issues raised in the engagement.
“Sefton Council with the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust are currently expanding theirSchool Neighbourhoodprogramme of work. This approach involvesschool pupils and the wider community to take a neighbourhood approach to improve the journey to school, from improving safety to creating a more inviting local environment for walking, wheeling and cycling over a wider area.
“Any future proposals for the Southport Liveable Neighbourhood scheme will be considered by Cabinet Member and be subject to consultation, and implementation of any proposals will form the next programme of works to be delivered from April 2027onwards.”
