Good morning from Southport Police Station
Good morning from Southport Police Station, the home of the North Sefton Neighbourhood Policing Team.
This week, we are taking part in 'NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING WEEK', a national campaign to improve awareness and celebrate the achievements of Neighbourhood policing teams in communities across the country. This SEFTON POLICE page is shared by the SOUTH SEFTON team based at Marsh Lane Police Station and the NORTH SEFTON team, based at Southport. This week you will see posts on this page from both Sefton Neighbourhood Teams, to try and demonstrate the wide variety of work we do, and how we engage with local residents and partner agencies in support of our communities.
Here at Southport the Neighbourhood team is divided into three teams of Police Constables and Police Community Support Officers (PCSO’s) working different shifts, supervised by three Sergeants, led by Inspector of Local Policing, Graham Fisher, and all based at Southport Police Station. Officers are allocated to the different political wards, with each having its own dedicated Police Officer and PCSO’s.
Among the team at Southport we have two Wildlife and Rural Crime Officers and two Schools Officers who cover the high schools of Southport and Formby. We have officers who are taser trained, pursuit trained, public order trained, quad bike and off-road vehicle trained, surveillance trained and speed gun trained among other skill bases. We have experienced Constables who tutor probationer police officers and two of our PCSO’s are PCSO Tutors, who mentor and assess new PCSO’s who are undergoing their 18 week HND certificated training programme.
Last week the Southport based team was responsible for the arrests of 5 prolific shoplifters, 1 man on suspicion of rape of a child, 1 disqualified driver and 2 men on suspicion of burglary and possession of controlled drugs.
Today, two of our Police Officers will be conducting knife crime presentations at Stanley High School. This is part of an ongoing programme of these inputs that have been taking place for the last two years across all high schools in the Southport and Formby area.
Look out for us out and about today around your home or place of work and watch for more updates throughout the week.
