Switch to LED battery operated tealights in your pumpkins so there's no risk of clothing or hair catching fire.

Keep children wearing costumes away from naked flames and other heat sources.
Ensure decorations aren't blocking exits and keep them away from naked flames.

Give children a torch or other light to carry when out trick-or-treating so they are more visible to motorists.

If you're heading to someone else's home for a Halloween party, be sure to familiarise yourself with the exits so you know how to escape in the event of a fire.
