Sefton residents invited to help shape future home care services
People who use home care services, along with their families, friends and carers, are being given the opportunity to directly influence the future of Care and Support at Home Services in Sefton through a coproduction group.
This forms part of an overall commissioning coproduction strategy that ensuring that people with lived experience, carers, partners and commissioners come together to provide challenge, oversight and strategic direction to commissioned services. Through the Sefton Working Together for Change Board, we are ensuring that the voices of local people are at the heart of how services are designed, commissioned and delivered.
The "Your Home, Your Care, Your Voice" group will bring together people with lived experience and professionals to help design services that support residents to live independently, safely and well in their own homes.
Care and Support at Home Services help people live in their own homes for as long as possible. Support is tailored to individual needs and can include assistance with personal care, medication, meal preparation, maintaining independence, getting out and about and supporting overall health and wellbeing.
The Council is encouraging older people, younger adults, disabled people, individuals with long-term health conditions, people with additional needs, those with SEND, as well as carers and family members to get involved.
Putting lived experience at the heart of service design
Coproduction means working in partnership with people who have lived experience to design and improve services from the outset. Their insight helps ensure support truly meets people’s needs and delivers positive outcomes.
Sefton has a strong track record of co-production. For example, service users are currently shaping Sefton’s Technology Enabled Care Strategy. The Willow View Co-production Group has also played a key role in designing a new short-term assessment unit in Ainsdale, influencing everything from the sensory spaces to the overall environment and service approach.
Introductory sessions
People are invited to attend one of the first introductory sessions, taking place in-person on:
Wednesday 14th October, 1pm-3pm at Sefton Carers Centre, L22 5PE
Wednesday 21st October, 10am-12pm at Southport Town Hall, PR8 1DA
There is also the option to join virtually on:
Thursday 15th October, 1pm-3pm Online using Microsoft Teams
Monday 19th October, 1pm-3pm Online using Microsoft Teams
The informal sessions will include small group discussions in a welcoming and supportive environment. Staff will be on hand throughout to ensure everyone can participate and share their views.
No special knowledge is required, just a willingness to share views and help improve home services for others.
