It's going to be chaos in Southport on Sunday

There are two major events being held in Southport on Sunday. The Southport Triathlon is taking place on the Marine Drive and in the Marine Lake. The cycling part of the event means that the Coastal Road / Marine Drive will be closed from Pontins to the Plough for 7 hours until 13.30.

At the same time in Victoria Park starting at 11.00 more than 500 cars are expected at the Extreme BHP car show. The normal traffic plus people attending both events is going to cause chaos along the Promenade and surrounding roads.

There will only be one way in and out of the Ocean Plaza car park over the Marine Parade Bridge.

With the weather forecast looking good many people will also be heading for the coast. Pleasureland car park on the Marine Drive will be closed until 13.30 and the beach car park is closed all the time at the moment.
