Kath Wilson from Southport Lifeboat meets the Prime Minister at Downing Street
The hard work of our founder, Kath Wilson, was recognised this week as she was invited to meet with the UK Prime Minister at Downing Street.
Kath was invited to the Community Champion reception at Number 10 by Southport MP, Damien Moore MP.
The event was attended by 'community champions' from all across the country, who as well as meeting Rishi Sunak, also got a tour of the Houses of Parliament.
Along with other local residents, Kath started the Southport Lifeboat in the late 1980s following the death of her son, Geoff Clements, in a fishing accident off the Sefton Coast.
Kath said she had a wonderful time visiting Downing Street, and was delighted to have time to speak with the Prime Minister about the Southport Lifeboat.
Kath continues to run the Southport Lifeboat Charity Shop in Birkdale, which has helped pay for the new Lifeboat Station that opened last year.
