Letting dogs paddle in dune pools (whether fenced or not) can have devastating effects on the breeding success of many protected species such as Natterjack Toads and Great Crested Newts.

Disturbing them is an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The tiny tadpoles can be washed out of pools and evidence has shown that fipronil - the main insecticide found in flea treatments - has been found to contaminate UK waterbodies.

Please keep your pets under control and out of pools.
The rich amphibian variety of the #sefton Coast is one of the reasons it enjoys Site of Special Scientific Interest protection.

Respect, protect and enjoy the Sefton coast.
