Today North West Ambulance Service launched their creative colouring competition for children to remind them about the dangers of fireworks and bonfires.

It is open to all children across the North West and is designed to help them understand how to keep themselves safe on Bonfire Night.

It closes on Wednesday 30 October. We will then choose TWO special winning designs which will become our Bonfire Night promotion posts and will be featured on our social media channels, which collectively have over 183,000 followers who could see the post. The winners will also receive a special goody bag of ambulance service giveaways.

What are we looking for?

A poster, either landscape or portrait, we can share on our social media channels in the lead-up to Bonfire Night.

They should be colourful and designed to deliver a simple yet eye-catching firework safety message. Appropriate safety messages might include:

Stay a safe distance away from fireworks
Fireworks are exciting, but they can be very dangerous and can hurt you. Listen to your grown-up about where is a safe place to stand.
Sparklers stay hot after they go out so take care
Never give sparklers to under five’s
Never put lit fireworks in your pocket
Stay back –fireworks burn
Wear gloves when you hold your sparkler and keep it away from your body.
Never touch the end of a sparkler as it will burn
Never touch a firework. Don’t pick up a firework after it has been used.
It’s not a good idea to hold more than one sparkler at once.
Leave your dressing up clothes at home on fireworks night, wrap up warm instead.
Stand well away from the bonfire and stay close to the grown-ups.
Submitting your design

Some pointers for parents:

Your child/children can be as creative as they like with their submission, but they may need your help! Either email us some pictures of their poster from different angles or create a short Reel showcasing it.

If you can, please email us a picture of your child/children with their creation or have them feature in the Reel. Please note, that the picture/Reel will be used on our social media channels and website so please only send a picture/Reel of your child/children if you are comfortable with this and consent to this.

Please remember to include their first name, age and the area you are based ie, Blackpool, Liverpool, Carlisle, Southport etc to [email protected]  by Wednesday 30 October. Good luck!
