police lights

A Land Rover Discovery was stolen from an address on Preston New Road in Southport, shortly after 10:00PM on Friday 2nd December. Local investigations are underway and neighbours in the immediate area will be visited and letter-dropped to see if they witnessed the theft or saw any vehicles seen in suspicious circumstances at the time.

Investigations into this vehicle theft and others that have taken place in recent weeks will continue.
Land Rovers/Range Rovers, Ford Fiestas and vans are the most targeted vehicles in the area at this time, but any keyless ignition vehicle could be a target for these thieves.

They are using technology to gain entry to, and start, keyless ignition vehicles, so that they can be stolen without the key fobs. Relying on the standard security with your vehicle is no longer enough. Other security measures such as wheel clamps, steering wheel/Gear lever locks, pedal clamps are needed to add a greater level of security.

We strongly recommend taking extra measures to secure your keyless ignition vehicles, to reduce the risk to yourselves of becoming a victim of this type of crime.
