Last Minute Goals Lead to Unlikely 2-1 Victory for Southport

match repoer

We didn’t see this one coming after 90 minutes of very little happening in the attacking third.

Goals in the 90th and 90+2 minutes gave the home side a very unlikely victory.

After the visitors scored in the 15th minute from a set piece corner it looked like the Peterborough Sports bogey was going to continue.

Manager Jim Bentley switched things around in the 75th minute and as a few tired legs in the Peterborough ranks began to show after a long journey up Southport did start to make some inroads into the box but it looked like it was all going to be in vain until those amazing last few minutes.

Firstly Jack Stafford fired home from the edge of the box in the 90th minute and just when we thought it was destined for a penalty shoot out Jamie Proctor headed home from close range to send the small but vociferous crowd into raptures.

Line Up: Renshaw, Thomson (Minihan 75) Doyle (Stafford 75) Knight-Percival (Morgan 75) Lloyd(Proctor 46) Carver (Arthur 90+2) Quansah, Moore, Hilton, Burgess, Philliskirk
