Late evening call out for Southport Lifeboat after reports of person in the sea by the Pier

Our Inshore Lifeboat (ILB), Arctic 24 lifeboat and ATV quad bikes were tasked by Holyhead Coastguard to reports of a person entering the water at Southport Pier.

Our ILB launched at Southport and conducted a search of the shallow waters in the vicinity of Southport Pier, while the quads conducted a search along the sea wall. 

Due to the nature of the tide, weather conditions and falling light, the ‘Heather White’ launched at Southport and carried out a search further offshore.

Coastguard helicopter Rescue 936 was tasked and conducted a spotlight and thermal search of the region.

After an extensive search involving lifeboats, ATVs, the Coastguard helicopter, Southport Coastguard Rescue Team and the police, all assets were stood down shortly before midnight with nothing found.
